Oddshelf legal

Terms of Service

  • Last updated: November 3, 2026
  • Version 1.0
  • Operator: TheMeanOne Developments

The short version

  • These Terms are the agreement between you and TheMeanOne Developments, the US business that runs Oddshelf. By creating an account or using the site you accept them.
  • Oddshelf is a marketplace and platform. When you buy something, you buy it from the creator, who is the seller. You pay the creator directly through PayPal, and Oddshelf takes 0% of the sale.
  • Anything you buy or claim goes into your Library. If a creator removes a product or leaves, you keep the files that were stored on Oddshelf Vault, for as long as Oddshelf operates. We only remove access for legal reasons, and we tell you why.
  • Oddshelf may change or one day close. If we ever shut down we will try to give you at least 30 days to download your Library, but we are not liable for losing access after that. Keep your own back-ups.
  • You must be at least 13 (16 in parts of Europe without a parent's consent). Minors may not buy anything without a parent or guardian.
  • Be decent: follow the Community & Content Guidelines. No malware, no stolen work, no illegal content, no harassment.
  • Your content stays yours. You give us only the licence we need to host and show it.
  • Disputes go to court in the US state where we are registered, not to arbitration. If you are a consumer in the EU or UK, the protections of your own country still apply.

This summary is for convenience only. The full Terms below are what legally applies.

1. About these Terms

1.1 Who we are. Oddshelf (the "Service"), available at oddshelf.io and its subdomains, is operated by TheMeanOne Developments, a business organised in the United States ("Oddshelf", "we", "us", "our"). Our postal address is [Postal address to be added].

1.2 Who these Terms apply to. These Terms of Service ("Terms") apply to everyone who visits or uses the Service: people browsing without an account, players and buyers ("users" or "you"), and creators who publish games, assets or tools. Creators are additionally bound by the Creator / Seller Agreement.

1.3 Documents that form part of these Terms. The following policies are incorporated into these Terms by reference, and you agree to them by using the Service:

1.4 Order of precedence. If these Terms conflict with a more specific policy on the same subject, the more specific policy wins for that subject. If these Terms conflict with mandatory consumer law in your country, the mandatory law wins.

1.5 Acceptance. You accept these Terms when you create an account (including by ticking the box at sign-up confirming that you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy and that you meet the age requirements), when you buy or claim anything, or when you otherwise use the Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Definitions

In these Terms:

3. Eligibility and age

3.1 Minimum age. You must be at least 13 years old to create an Account or use the interactive features of the Service.

3.2 Europe and the UK. If you live in the European Union, the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom and you are under 16 (or under the lower digital-consent age set by your country, where one applies), you may only use the Service with the consent of a parent or legal guardian, who must agree to these Terms on your behalf.

3.3 No purchases by minors without a parent. If you are under 18 (or the age of majority where you live), you may not buy any Product, subscribe to any plan or buy a Boost unless a parent or legal guardian makes or authorises the purchase and accepts these Terms for it.

3.4 Mature content. Sexual content is not allowed on the Service. Listings rated Mature 18+ (strong violence, gore or intense themes) are hidden unless a user confirms they are 18 or older. We do not verify age or identity, so parents and guardians are responsible for supervising younger users. See the Guidelines.

3.5 Other restrictions. You may not use the Service if we have previously banned you, or if you are barred from receiving services under the laws of the United States or the country where you live (including applicable sanctions laws).

3.6 If we learn a child is under age. If we learn that an Account belongs to a child below the minimum age, or to a child in Europe without required parental consent, we will close the Account and delete its personal data as described in the Privacy Policy.

4. Your account

4.1 Signing up. You can register with a username, display name, email address and password, or sign in with GitHub. You agree to give accurate information and to keep it up to date.

4.2 Security. You are responsible for keeping your password and your GitHub account secure and for everything that happens under your Account. We store your password only as a salted, one-way hash, so we can never tell you what it is. Tell us at [email protected] straight away if you believe someone else has accessed your Account.

4.3 One person, one account. Accounts are personal. Do not share, sell or transfer your Account, and do not create Accounts to evade a suspension or ban. Studios and teams may run a shared Creator Account, but one named person must remain responsible for it.

4.4 Usernames. Usernames and display names must follow the Guidelines. We may reclaim or change a name that impersonates someone, infringes a trademark, is offensive, or has been inactive and is requested by the rightful owner of a related brand.

4.5 Your data tools. In Settings you can download a copy of your data ("Download my data") and permanently delete your Account ("Delete my account"). What happens on deletion is explained in section 15 and in the Privacy Policy.

5. What Oddshelf is (and is not)

5.1 A platform, not the seller. Oddshelf is an online marketplace that lets independent Creators list and sell their Products, and lets users discover, buy, download and play them. Unless a Listing clearly says otherwise, Oddshelf is not the seller of any Product. The Creator is the seller of record and the contract for the Product is between you and the Creator.

5.2 Zero commission. Oddshelf takes a 0% cut of Product sales. Payment for a Product goes from you to the Creator directly through the Creator's PayPal account. Oddshelf does not receive, hold or forward that money.

5.3 Who is responsible for what. The Creator is responsible for their Product, its description, its quality, its compliance with the law, its licence terms, refunds owed by law or promised in the Listing, and any taxes on the sale. Oddshelf is responsible for running the platform, for the Library guarantee in section 8, for moderating content as described in these Terms and the Guidelines, and for its own paid services (Pro, Pro+ and Boosts).

5.4 Traders and private sellers (EU/UK). Some Creators sell as a business ("trader") and some as private individuals. Consumer protection rights in the EU and UK that apply only to purchases from traders may not apply when you buy from a private individual. Where the law requires, we will ask Creators who sell to consumers in the EU or UK to tell us which they are and show that information on their Listings.

5.5 No endorsement. Featuring, "Boosted" placement, staff picks or ratings are not a guarantee by Oddshelf about any Product. Boosted placements are paid advertising and are labelled as such.

6. Buying and claiming products

6.1 Prices. Creators set their own prices. A Product may be free, have a fixed price, or be "pay what you want" with a minimum set by the Creator. Prices are shown in the currency displayed on the Listing. PayPal may apply currency conversion and its own fees, which are governed by PayPal's terms.

6.2 How payment works. When you buy a Product, you are sent to PayPal to pay the Creator directly. PayPal is an independent company with its own terms and privacy policy, and it is the controller of the payment information you give it. Oddshelf never sees your full card or bank details.

6.3 Order confirmation. Once PayPal confirms the payment, the Product is added to your Library and we keep a purchase record (amount, date and PayPal's reference). Your contract with the Creator is formed when the Product appears in your Library.

6.4 Taxes. The Creator is responsible for any sales tax, VAT or GST due on the sale. Depending on where you live and on the Creator's status, the price you see may or may not include tax.

6.5 Claiming free Products. Free Products can be claimed into your Library with one click. Free Products are covered by the same Library guarantee as paid ones.

6.6 EU/UK consumers and immediate delivery. Digital content is delivered immediately. At checkout you will be asked to tick a box giving your express consent to immediate delivery and acknowledging that you lose your 14-day right of withdrawal once the download starts (or once you start playing a browser game you bought). If you do not give that consent, the purchase cannot be completed through the instant-delivery checkout. Your statutory rights for faulty or not-as-described digital content are not affected and are explained in the Refunds Policy.

6.7 Chargebacks. If you open a payment dispute or chargeback with PayPal or your card issuer, that dispute is between you, the Creator and PayPal. While a dispute is open, or if it is decided against the Creator, the Product may be removed from your Library. Repeated abusive chargebacks may lead to suspension.

7. Your licence to use products

7.1 You get a licence, not ownership of the copyright. Buying or claiming a Product gives you a licence to use it on the terms the Creator sets on the Listing. The Creator (or their licensors) keeps the copyright and other rights.

7.2 Games and tools. Unless the Listing says otherwise, games and tools are licensed for your personal, non-commercial use on devices you own or control. You may not resell, rent, share or redistribute them, or remove copyright notices or technical protection measures, except as the law expressly allows.

7.3 Assets and the Oddshelf Standard Asset Licence. Each asset Listing states its licence. If the Creator has chosen the default Oddshelf Standard Asset Licence, then in summary:

The full text of the Standard Asset Licence is in the Creator Agreement. If a Creator chooses a different licence (for example CC0, CC BY, or a custom licence), the licence shown on the Listing at the time you bought or claimed the Product applies to your copy.

7.4 Licence version you got. If a Creator later changes a Product's licence, the change does not reduce the rights you received with your existing copy unless you agree to the change or the change is required by law.

8. The Library guarantee

8.1 Lasting access. Everything you buy or claim is added to your Library (Games, Assets or Tools) and stays there for as long as your Account exists and the Service operates (see section 20.3).

8.2 If a Creator delists, deletes or leaves. If a Creator delists or deletes a Product, or closes their Account, you keep access to the files that were stored on Oddshelf Vault at that time. Creators cannot delete Vault files that someone has bought; they can only archive them, which hides them from new buyers but keeps them available to existing owners.

8.3 External Links. For files hosted outside Oddshelf Vault we cannot guarantee availability, because we do not control those hosts. We will keep the link in your Library and notify you if we learn that it has stopped working or that the Creator has removed it.

8.4 When access can be removed. We will only remove a Product from your Library for a legal reason: a court or authority order, a valid copyright or other legal takedown, malware or a serious security risk, or illegal content. If that happens, we will tell you which Product was affected and why (unless the law forbids us), and we will facilitate a refund from the Creator where the law requires one. Details are in the Refunds & Library Policy.

8.5 Your own Account closure. If you delete your Account, your Library is deleted with it and cannot be restored. Download anything you want to keep first.

9. Creator plans and Boosts

9.1 Plans. Oddshelf earns money from optional plans for Creators, not from sales:

PlanPriceIncludes
Free$02 GB of Oddshelf Vault storage; External Links to your own hosting.
Pro$5 / month50 GB storage, stats, page themes, Pro badge, 1 Boost per month.
Pro+$12 / month250 GB storage, everything in Pro, 3 Boosts per month, priority support.
Boosts$5 to $25 eachPaid front-page placement for a set period, labelled as promoted.

9.2 Lemon Squeezy is the merchant of record. Pro, Pro+ and Boosts are sold through Lemon Squeezy, which acts as merchant of record, processes the payment and handles sales tax and VAT. Lemon Squeezy's own terms also apply to those purchases.

9.3 Auto-renewal. Plans renew automatically every month and you will be charged the then-current price until you cancel. You can cancel at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for. We will give at least 30 days' notice of any price increase, and you can cancel before it takes effect.

9.4 Storage after a plan ends. If a plan ends and your stored files exceed the Free limit, your files stay available for 30 days. After that, files beyond the limit are hidden (not deleted) until you upgrade or remove files, except files that buyers have paid for, which always stay available to those buyers.

9.5 Refunds for plans and Boosts are covered in the Refunds Policy.

10. Your content

10.1 You keep ownership. You keep all rights you have in your User Content. Oddshelf does not claim ownership of it.

10.2 Licence you give us. You grant Oddshelf a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, cache, transmit, display, perform (for browser games), reformat (for example creating thumbnails or previews), and distribute your User Content, solely to operate, secure, promote and improve the Service and to provide Products to the people entitled to them. This licence lets us show your Listings, cover images and short excerpts in promotional placements on and off the Service (for example on social media) and lasts as long as your content is on the Service, plus:

10.3 Your promises. You promise that you own or have all the rights needed to post your User Content and grant this licence, that it does not infringe anyone's rights, and that it complies with these Terms and the Guidelines.

10.4 Comments, ratings and reviews. Ratings (1 to 5 stars) and comments must reflect your genuine experience. Do not post fake reviews, reviews you were paid for without disclosure, or reviews of your own Products. Creators must not offer incentives for positive ratings.

10.5 Feedback. If you send us ideas or suggestions about the Service, we may use them without any obligation to you.

11. Acceptable use

You agree not to, and not to help anyone else to:

The Community & Content Guidelines explain these rules in more detail and with examples.

12. Browser games and Rooms

12.1 Sandbox. Browser games run in a sandbox on a separate domain from the main Oddshelf site, so they cannot read your Oddshelf session or Account. Games are made by Creators, not by Oddshelf, and may have their own rules or privacy notices.

12.2 Rooms. Multiplayer browser games may connect you with other players through Oddshelf Rooms. Messages in Rooms are relayed live to other players and are not stored by Oddshelf. Other players can see what you send. Do not share personal information in games, and report abusive players to the game's Creator and to us.

12.3 Health. Some games contain flashing lights or patterns that may trigger seizures in people with photosensitive epilepsy. Stop playing and seek medical advice if you feel unwell.

13. Third-party services and links

13.1 The Service connects to services we do not control, including PayPal, GitHub, Lemon Squeezy and file hosts used for External Links (such as GitHub Releases, MediaFire, Google Drive, MEGA and Dropbox). Those services have their own terms and privacy policies, which apply when you use them.

13.2 We are not responsible for the content, availability, security or practices of third-party websites or hosts, including files downloaded from External Links. We may scan linked files for malware where we can (see the Privacy Policy), but we cannot guarantee that a file outside Oddshelf Vault is the same file that was scanned.

14. Moderation, enforcement and appeals

14.1 What we can do. To keep the Service safe and lawful, we may review User Content and, where it breaks these Terms, the Guidelines or the law, we may: remove or hide content; restrict its visibility (for example removing it from search or front-page placement); add warnings or labels; correct a content rating; disable features; issue warnings; suspend an Account; or permanently ban an Account. We choose the response that is proportionate to the problem.

14.2 Statement of reasons. When we remove or restrict your content or Account, we will send you a statement of reasons explaining what we did, why, which rule or law it was based on, whether automated tools were involved, and how to appeal, unless the content is spam, the law forbids us from telling you, or telling you would put someone at risk.

14.3 Appeals. You can appeal any moderation decision by emailing [email protected] within 6 months of the decision. A person who was not involved in the original decision, where possible, will review it and reply. Users in the EU may also use a certified out-of-court dispute settlement body under the Digital Services Act, or go to court.

14.4 Reports. Anyone can report a game, Listing, comment, forum post or user using the report button or by email. We give priority to reports from trusted flaggers. Knowingly false or abusive reports are themselves a violation.

14.5 Repeat infringers. We terminate the Accounts of repeat copyright infringers in appropriate circumstances; our rule is that three valid copyright strikes lead to termination. See the Copyright Policy.

14.6 No obligation to monitor. We are not obliged to monitor all User Content and do not do so generally, but we act on reports and on what we find.

15. Ending your use of the Service

15.1 You can leave any time by using "Delete my account" in Settings, after cancelling any paid plan.

15.2 We can suspend or terminate your Account if you seriously or repeatedly break these Terms, if we are required to by law, if your Account creates legal or security risk, or (with at least 30 days' notice where practical) if we discontinue the Service. If we terminate without cause, we will refund any prepaid, unused plan fees.

15.3 What happens to data. When an Account is deleted: personal data is erased; comments are deleted; purchase records are kept in anonymised form where tax or accounting law requires (for example up to 7 years for financial records); and if the Account belonged to a Creator, their Listings are delisted but buyers keep access to what they bought under section 8.

15.4 Forum posts. To keep discussions readable, forum threads you took part in are kept, but your posts are shown as "[deleted user]" with their text removed.

15.5 Survival. Sections that by their nature should survive termination survive it, including sections 7 (licences already granted), 8 (for buyers), 10.2 (to the extent stated), and 16 to 21.

16. Disclaimers

16.1 Products are the Creators'. Products are made and sold by independent Creators. Oddshelf does not make any promise about any Product's quality, safety, fitness for a purpose, compatibility, legality or accuracy of description. Your rights about a Product are against its Creator.

16.2 "As is". To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title and non-infringement. We do not promise that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free or free of harmful components, although we work hard to keep it that way.

16.3 Your consumer rights. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any warranty or right that cannot be excluded or limited under the law that applies to you, including statutory rights of consumers in the EU, EEA and UK.

17. Limitation of liability

17.1 To the fullest extent permitted by law, Oddshelf and TheMeanOne Developments, and their owners, staff and contractors, will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill or business opportunity, arising out of or in connection with the Service or these Terms, even if advised of the possibility.

17.2 To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for all claims arising out of or in connection with the Service or these Terms is limited to the greater of US$100 or the total amounts you paid to Oddshelf in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. Payments you made to Creators for Products are not amounts paid to Oddshelf.

17.3 These limits do not apply to liability that cannot be limited by law, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for gross negligence or wilful misconduct where the law does not allow it to be limited.

17.4 EU/UK consumers. If you are a consumer in the EU, EEA or UK, we are liable for foreseeable loss caused by our breach of these Terms or our failure to use reasonable care and skill, and the caps above apply only to the extent your local law allows.

18. Indemnity

If you use the Service for business purposes or as a Creator, you agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless Oddshelf and TheMeanOne Developments from any claims, damages, losses, costs and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your User Content, your Products, your breach of these Terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right. We will tell you promptly about any such claim and let you control its defence, but we may take part with our own counsel. This section does not apply to consumers to the extent their local law does not allow it.

19. Governing law, courts and disputes

19.1 Talk to us first. Most problems can be solved quickly. Before starting any legal claim, please email [email protected] with a description of the problem and give us 30 days to try to resolve it.

19.2 Governing law. These Terms and any dispute arising out of them are governed by the laws of the US state in which TheMeanOne Developments is registered and applicable US federal law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.

19.3 Courts, not arbitration. We do not require arbitration. Any dispute will be decided exclusively by the state or federal courts located in the US state in which TheMeanOne Developments is registered, and you and we consent to their jurisdiction. Either party may bring a qualifying claim in small-claims court.

19.4 Class action waiver. Where permitted by law, you and we each agree to bring claims only in an individual capacity, and not as a plaintiff or class member in any purported class or representative proceeding.

19.5 EU/UK consumers. If you are a consumer living in the EU, EEA or UK, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country of residence, and you may also bring proceedings in the courts of your country. The European Commission's online dispute resolution platform has been discontinued; you may contact your national consumer authority.

20. Changes to the Service and these Terms

20.1 The Service. We keep improving Oddshelf, so features may change. While the Service operates, we will not remove the Library guarantee for Products you already own.

20.3 Suspending or closing the Service. Oddshelf is a young service run by a small business, and we cannot promise it will run forever. We may suspend, limit or permanently discontinue the Service, or any part of it (including the Library, Oddshelf Vault, browser games and Rooms), at any time, including for financial, technical or legal reasons. If we decide to close the Service permanently, we will try to give at least 30 days' notice by email and on the Service so you can download your Library and any files you have uploaded. After the Service closes, Products, files, Library entries, uploads and other data may no longer be available.

20.4 No liability for closure. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Oddshelf, TheMeanOne Developments and their owners, staff and contractors are not liable for any loss of access to, or loss of, Products, Library entries, files, User Content, data, plan benefits or earnings caused by suspending, limiting or closing the Service. Your rights about a Product you bought are against its Creator. If we close the Service, we will refund the unused part of any prepaid plan fees paid to Oddshelf; that refund is our only obligation for the closure. Please keep your own back-ups of anything important.

20.5 Outages. The Service may be unavailable from time to time for maintenance, failures of our providers (such as hosting, storage or payment services) or reasons outside our control, and we are not liable for temporary unavailability.

20.2 These Terms. We may update these Terms. For material changes we will give at least 30 days' notice by email and/or a notice on the Service before they take effect. Changes needed for legal reasons or to address new features may take effect sooner where the law allows. If you do not agree with a change, you can stop using the Service and delete your Account before it takes effect; continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the new Terms. Each version is dated and numbered at the top of this page.

21. General terms

21.1 Entire agreement. These Terms, together with the documents listed in section 1.3, are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service and replace any earlier agreements about it.

21.2 Severability. If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect and the unenforceable part is modified to the minimum extent needed to make it enforceable.

21.3 No waiver. If we do not enforce a right straight away, we do not give it up.

21.4 Assignment. You may not transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms without our written consent. We may transfer them as part of a merger, acquisition, reorganisation or sale of assets, or to an affiliate, as long as your rights (including the Library guarantee) are not reduced; we will tell you if this happens.

21.5 Force majeure. We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control, such as natural disasters, war, terrorism, riots, government action, pandemics, labour disputes, failures of the internet, power or hosting providers, or large-scale cyberattacks.

21.6 Notices. We may send notices to the email address on your Account or show them on the Service. You can send legal notices to [email protected] and to our postal address [Postal address to be added].

21.7 Language. These Terms are written in English. Any translation is for convenience; the English version applies if there is a conflict, except where local law requires otherwise.

21.8 No third-party beneficiaries, except that Creators may enforce the licence terms of their own Products.
