Buying on Oddshelf

Purchases, Refunds & Library Access Policy

  • Last updated: November 3, 2026
  • Version 1.0
  • Operator: TheMeanOne Developments

The short version

  • When you buy a game, asset or tool, you buy it from the creator and pay them directly through PayPal. Oddshelf takes 0%.
  • Refunds for products come from the creator. If a product is broken or not as described, contact the creator first; if that does not work, tell us and we will step in.
  • EU/UK buyers: at checkout you agree to immediate delivery and lose the 14-day withdrawal right once the download starts. Your rights for faulty content stay intact.
  • Oddshelf's own Pro, Pro+ and Boosts are sold by Lemon Squeezy. You can cancel any time; it takes effect at the end of the paid month.
  • Your Library is permanent. If a creator removes a product or leaves, you keep the files that were on Oddshelf Vault. We only remove access for legal reasons, and we tell you why.

1. How buying works

1.1 The creator is the seller. Products on Oddshelf are sold by independent Creators. When you buy, the contract is between you and the Creator, who is the seller of record. Oddshelf, operated by TheMeanOne Developments, is the platform and does not take a share of the sale.

1.2 Paying. You pay the Creator directly through PayPal. PayPal's terms and buyer protection rules apply to the payment. Oddshelf never receives your card or bank details and never holds the money.

1.3 Price types. A Product can be free, have a fixed price, or be pay-what-you-want with a minimum set by the Creator. If you pay more than the minimum, the extra goes to the Creator as part of the price and is treated like any other payment for refund purposes.

1.4 Delivery. Once PayPal confirms payment, the Product appears in your Library and you can download or play it straight away. Keep the PayPal receipt; your Library also records the date, amount and PayPal reference.

1.5 Before you buy. Check the Listing: platforms, system requirements, file formats, licence and content warnings. Many Creators offer demos or free versions.

1.6 Minors. If you are under 18 (or the age of majority where you live), a parent or guardian must make or authorise the purchase.

2. EU and UK consumers: the right of withdrawal

2.1 Consumers in the EU, EEA and UK normally have 14 days to withdraw from an online purchase. For digital content that is not supplied on a physical medium, that right ends once delivery begins, if you have agreed to that.

2.2 At checkout you will be asked to tick a box to:

2.3 The Creator, or Oddshelf on the Creator's behalf, will confirm this consent and acknowledgement on a durable medium, such as your purchase confirmation.

2.4 If you have paid but have not yet started any download or play, you may still withdraw within 14 days by contacting the Creator (and copying [email protected]).

2.5 If the Creator sells as a private individual rather than as a trader, statutory consumer rights against traders may not apply. Each Listing shows this where required.

3. Faulty or not-as-described products

3.1 Your statutory rights. Losing the right of withdrawal does not affect your legal rights if digital content is faulty, does not match its description, or is not supplied. In the EU these include the rights under the Digital Content Directive (to have the content brought into conformity, and if that fails, a price reduction or refund); in the UK, the Consumer Rights Act 2015 (repair or replacement, then a refund of up to 100%). Similar rights may apply under the law of your US state or other country. These rights are against the seller, which is the Creator.

3.2 Examples of a fault: the files will not download; the game will not start on a platform the Listing says it supports and meets the stated requirements; files are corrupt or missing; the Product is materially different from its description or screenshots; the asset is not licensed as stated.

3.3 Not a fault: changing your mind after downloading, not liking the style, or a device that does not meet the stated requirements.

4. How to ask for a refund on a product

  1. Contact the Creator through the contact details or comments on the Listing or their profile. Explain the problem and include your PayPal transaction reference (found in your Library).
  2. Give them a reasonable chance to fix it. Creators are expected to reply within a reasonable time and to refund through PayPal where the law requires or where their Listing promises a refund.
  3. If you get no answer within 7 days, or you disagree, email [email protected] with the Product name, PayPal reference and a description. We will contact the Creator, review the case, and may: ask the Creator to refund; mark the Listing as under review; remove a Product that is broken, fraudulent or misleading; and take action against the Creator under the Creator Agreement.
  4. PayPal buyer protection. You may also open a dispute with PayPal under its rules. A dispute or chargeback may remove the Product from your Library while it is open or if it is decided in your favour.

4.1 Because Oddshelf never receives the money for Products, we cannot issue Product refunds ourselves, but we will do what we reasonably can to help, and Creators who ignore valid refund obligations may lose selling privileges.

4.2 Creator refund policies. A Creator may offer more generous refunds than the law requires (for example "refund within 14 days, no questions asked"). If a Listing states a refund policy, the Creator must honour it. A Creator cannot offer less than the law requires.

4.3 After a refund the Product is removed from your Library, and the licence you received ends. Assets already built into projects you shipped before the refund are a matter between you and the Creator; please act in good faith.

4.4 Abuse. Repeatedly buying, downloading and refunding Products, or using chargebacks to get Products for free, may lead to Account suspension.

5. Oddshelf Pro, Pro+ and Boosts

5.1 Seller. Pro ($5/month), Pro+ ($12/month) and Boosts ($5 to $25) are Oddshelf's own services, sold through Lemon Squeezy as merchant of record. Lemon Squeezy processes the payment, issues your receipt and handles sales tax and VAT. Lemon Squeezy's terms and refund policy also apply.

5.2 Renewal. Plans renew automatically every month until you cancel. You will be told the price and renewal terms before you subscribe.

5.3 Cancellation. You can cancel at any time from your plan settings or the Lemon Squeezy customer portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period; you keep plan features until then and are not charged again.

5.4 Refunds of plans. We do not normally give partial refunds for unused days in a month. However:

5.5 Boosts. A Boost is used once its placement starts. A Boost that has not yet started can be refunded on request. If we end a running Boost early for a reason that is not your fault, we will refund or re-credit the unused part. Boosts removed because the Product broke our rules are not refunded.

5.6 After a plan ends. Storage drops to the Free limit (2 GB). Your files stay available for 30 days; then files beyond the limit are hidden (not deleted) until you upgrade or remove files. Files buyers have paid for always stay available to those buyers.

6. The Library guarantee

6.1 Everything stays. Every Product you buy or claim (paid or free) goes into your Library, under the Games, Assets or Tools tab, and stays there for as long as you keep your Account and Oddshelf operates.

6.2 If a Creator delists or deletes a Product, or closes their Account, you keep access to the files that were on Oddshelf Vault at that time.

6.3 Creators cannot delete files you bought. They can only archive them, which hides them from new buyers. Archived files remain downloadable from your Library.

6.4 Plan downgrades do not affect you. If a Creator's plan ends and their storage is over the limit, files you paid for stay available to you.

6.5 Externally linked files. Some Products are hosted on the Creator's own hosting (such as GitHub Releases, MediaFire, Google Drive, MEGA or Dropbox). Oddshelf cannot guarantee those links will keep working, because we do not control those sites. We will keep the link in your Library and notify you if we learn it has broken or been removed. We recommend downloading and backing up linked files you care about. Listings show whether files are on Oddshelf Vault or an External Link.

6.6 Your own back-ups. The Library guarantee is our promise, but it is wise to keep your own copies of important files, especially assets used in commercial projects.

6.7 If Oddshelf closes. The Library guarantee lasts while the Service operates. If Oddshelf ever closes permanently we will try to give at least 30 days' notice so you can download everything; after that, files may no longer be available and we are not liable for that loss (see Terms section 20).

7. When access can be removed

7.1 We will remove a Product from your Library only for legal reasons:

7.2 If this happens, we will tell you which Product was affected and why, unless the law forbids it. Where a fix is possible (for example, the Creator uploads a clean file) we will restore access.

7.3 Where the law requires a refund (for example because the Product is no longer supplied as promised), we will facilitate a refund by directing the Creator to refund you through PayPal, supporting your PayPal dispute with the information we hold, and enforcing against Creators who refuse.

7.4 A Product may also leave your Library if you receive a refund or win a payment dispute for it (section 4.3), or if you delete your Account.

7.5 Our right to suspend or ban an Account for serious violations is set out in the Terms. Where we permanently ban an Account, we will, on request, allow a reasonable period to download Products from the Library, unless that would be unlawful or unsafe.

8. If you delete your account

Deleting your Account deletes your Library. This cannot be undone, and we cannot restore Products later. Download what you want to keep first. Anonymised purchase records are kept where tax and accounting law requires (see the Privacy Policy).
